Last Friday, our class had a visitor from the San Manuel Indian Tribe
come to teach us about the Indian culture. Our presenter’s nickname was
Shorty and he did a great job. He sang songs to the kids as well as
taught them the songs (which the kids sang the rest of the afternoon and even
started singing it again this week. I finally had to kindly ask them to
stop because I was starting to hear the song in my sleep! ;). Shorty
brought in a great spread of artifacts and replicas of what the Indians used
years ago. He also had a slide show presentation that showed the class
pictures and other information about the culture. Overall, the kids
learned a lot and had a bunch of fun! Thanks, Shorty!
If I remember correctly, this means "Hello, how are you doing?"
Mrs. Barr's class joined us!
A replica of the sandals they used to make out of Yucca fibers. They were not very soft! Ouch!
This grinding stone was found up in the mountains. It's hundreds of years old!
